“I just got my results back today and tested positive for coronavirus,” Bryan wrote in an Instagram post-Saturday afternoon. “I’ve been sick for a week and feeling better each day. Please don’t be afraid!!! It’s the flu, not the plague. I’ve have been quarantined for a week and will for another week. And when I feel better I’ll get tested again to make sure I’m free of this nasty virus. Please help out with each other. This will be over soon … with the help of every American!!”
He went for tests since he was coughing and feverish. On March 15, he began to experience sickness in a New Jersey residence.
“The first symptoms were flu-like, with a low level fever around 100 with body aches and headaches,” Bryan tells Variety.
Soon after, he had trouble getting out of bed due to physical discomfort. On March 18, it then began to spread to his lungs. After calling his doctor, Dr. Mike Rothberg of Brick, he consents to drive-by testing for the coronavirus, which entailed a thorough swab up his nose.
He received an instant prescription for antibiotics (Azithromycin) and hydroxychloroquine (the “anti-malarial medicine”), which he began taking on Saturday after the test revealed he was positive. Reports state that the medication is having an effect and that he is “growing stronger” while staying in seclusion with his wife, Lexil.
“I beg everyone to be extremely careful, follow the basic guidelines by washing your hands frequently, keeping at least a 6 foot distance from others, doing everything you can to stop the virus from spreading and please above all stay home if you can!” he wrote.
Aside from a “slight headache for a couple of days,” his wife Lexi tested positive as well, but she is not exhibiting any of the same symptoms.
As his body battles the infection, he has been in bed watching movies and getting lots of rest. He adds that everyone should stay at home and do their share to stop the spread.
