He has been an ESPN tennis analyst since early 2020. Since January 2018, he has also been the tournament director for the Miami Open, where he oversees player relations, media, broadcasting, and innovation.
In July 2007, he published Breaking Back: How I Lost Everything and Won Back My Life, a New York Times best-selling memoir.

Since 2012, James Blake has been married to publicist Emily Snider.
Following a four-year courtship, they married on November 9 in Del Mar, California. Riley Elizabeth Blake (born June 10, 2012) and Emma Blake Blake are their two daughters (born in April 2014).
