Johnnie Cochran, a high-profile American lawyer, rose to international popularity by successfully defending O.J. Simpson, a player and celebrity who was charged with a double murder in 1994. He was born Johnnie Lee Cochran Jr. in Shreveport, Louisiana, in 1937, to an insurance salesman and an Avon goods saleswoman. The family traveled to the West Coast during the second wave of the Great Migration, eventually settling in Los Angeles in 1949, after experiencing childhood in the place where he grew up.

He attended Los Angeles neighborhood schools before attending Los Angeles High School in 1955. After graduating from high school, he enrolled at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Economics in 1959.

Similarly, he graduated from Loyola Law School with a Juris Doctorate in 1962. Also, He was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and the 45th “Tree Wreath Wearer.”

Personal Life, Marriage, Wife, and Death of Johnnie Cochran

When it comes to Cochran’s personal life, he was married to Barbara Berry Cochran from 1960 to 1977, and Sylvia Date from 1985 to 2005, until his death. From his three marriages, he has three children.

Cochran died on March 29, 2005, at the age of 67, at his home in Los Angeles. A brain tumor was the reason of his death. On April 4, his casket was opened for an open survey at the Angelus Funeral Home in Los Angeles, then the next day at the Second Baptist Church of God in Christ in Los Angeles.

In December 2003, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor, and in April 2004, he underwent surgery, which caused him to shun the media. He informed the New York Post shortly after that he was feeling terrific and was in good health. However, when the time comes, everyone must go from the earth.

Above all, On April 6, 2005, a memorial service was held at West Angeles Church of God in his honor. Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, California, was where his remains were interred. Several of his prior associates and customers, including O.J. Simpson, attended his funeral.
