The lads went on to play all throughout the city, including two weeks in a row at the Apollo Theater on Amateur Night, where they triumphed. James and Malik were signed to Priority Records not long after. They followed up with the track “Play Ruff,” which featured Tracey Lee and Memphis Bleek.

Cam’ron, a rapper, was introduced to James in 1998. After that, he changed his name to Juelz Santana and joined Cam’ron’s hip hop group the Diplomats, which included Freekey Zekey and Jim Jones. A remix of “What Means the World to You” was his first collaboration with the group. The Diplomats then appeared on Cam’ron’s album “S.D.E.,” which debuted at number two on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart in 2000.
“Diplomatic Immunity,” the group’s debut album, was released in 2003. The album reached the top of the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. In 2004, “Diplomatic Immunity 2” was released, featuring new Diplomat members 40 Cal., Hell Rell, and J. R. Writer.
