Due to his father’s Portuguese ancestry, Sean Paul’s last name, Enrique, is of the Portuguese variety. Sean Paul’s Chinese ancestors can be traced down to his mother, a painter. Many of his relatives have represented Jamaica in numerous swimming events, therefore he was reared in a Catholic home with a largely athletic family. Sean Paul was a member of the Jamaican national water polo team until he was 21 years old.
Career
Sean Paul’s music career began in the mid-1990s, when he began working with Jeremy Harding, a musician and producer. Sean began by simply hanging out in the recording studio, seeking ideas from more experienced musicians. When he recorded “Baby Girl,” however, most observers realised he had a one-of-a-kind talent. After that, Harding and Sean worked on “Infiltrate,” which received a lot of radio play. Following collaborations with artists such as DMX and a brief appearance in the film Belly, Sean Paul began to earn international acclaim over the next few years.
Sean Paul’s career recovery was pushed by new management in 2016, and he worked with Sia on a hugely popular smash tune. In the same year, he reunited with a record label, signing with Island Records. His hit track “No Lie,” which featured Dua Lipa, was released in 2016. This song would be the first single from his upcoming EP Mad Love The Prequel. He collaborated with Tove Lo on the track “Calling on Me,” which he released in 2020.
