Yip Sai Wing

In later 1999, Beyond announced their breakup and their launch of solo career, Yip played music with former Beyond member William Tang. Afterward Yip began publishing Yip’s solo albums and performed as a drummer in several performances of world tour.

In Beyond’s early years, Yip focused mostly on drums, percussion and harmony vocals and occasionally on lead vocals. While lead vocalist Wong Ka Kui was deceased in 1993, Yip participated in the lead on more tracks from 1994 to 1999, including “Alright Alright” (無事無事), “Adore” (崇拜), “Helpless” (無助).

During his school life in secondary school, Yip was influenced by Britpop and started learning to play drums in the bands with friends. After graduation from New Method College, he began his career as an insurance manager in Tugu Insurance Company, Limited. Until he met Wong Ka Kui in a piano company and knew he was also a big fan of David Bowie, Yip played drums and Wong played guitar together. In 1983 prior to participating in a musical contest, they formed the band Beyond with William Tang (鄧煒謙) and Lee Wing Chiu (李榮潮).

Yip Sai Wing (born 19 August 1963) is a Hong Kong musician and a co-founder and the drummer of the rock band Beyond.
